Joy Christopher Biswas: A BNP supporter, Saddam Hossain (30), was killed following an altercation with an Awami League activist in Bara Palsha village, Mohanpur upazila, Rajshahi, on Thursday. The police have since arrested the accused, Eksar Ali, in connection with the incident.
According to local sources, Saddam, the son of Ayen Uddin from Dhurail Union, frequently engaged in political discussions with Eksar Ali. On the evening of the incident, the two men had a heated argument outside Saddam’s home. During the confrontation, Eksar allegedly fetched a hansua (a traditional sickle-like weapon) from his house and attacked Saddam. When Saddam’s elder brother, Md. Local residents rushed the injured men to the Upazila Health Complex. Tragically, Saddam succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital, while Bulbul was later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (Ramek) for further treatment.
Mohanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hannan confirmed the arrest of Eksar Ali and stated, “The accused was apprehended shortly after the incident, and a case will be filed against him. The body of the deceased will be sent to Rajshahi Medical College morgue for an autopsy.”
